“Reasons” to work flexibly
There are lots of reasons someone may want to work flexibly, and none are “better” than any others.
Maybe you are a mother who wants to spend less time commuting and more time with your children.
Maybe you need to take an aging parent to/from their doctor appointments.
Maybe your favorite fitness class is in the middle of the day.
Maybe your best friend is in town with his son’s baseball team and you want to support him.
This last reason is how I got the picture for this post. The image is that of my husband working at a ballfield. The best part is the perspective. This picture was captured from the field, by his friend, who wanted to memorialize the moment.
These two men have been in each others lives for more than 40 years although they have lived in separate states for much of the adult part of it, so when he had the opportunity to support his best friend’s son in person “during the workday,” my husband decided “Making Flex Work” was the only logical solution.
For those 2 hours, his co-workers got what they needed and my husband was the best friend he could be.
This is why flexibility is so important. It allows your team to be where they need to be so when you need them most, they want deliver what you need.
